Day 3 | Battle in the Corridors
It had been three days since the invasion started, and things were still looking dire. Lauren was surprised to find herself thinking of it as an 'invasion', but for better or for worse this was their home, and the things rampaging through the hallways and rooms definitely didn't belong there. For the most part she had stayed in Sanctuary, tending to the wounded and trying to make sure everybody at least gave a token effort to eating and sleeping properly, but eventually she had to admit that she couldn't stay inside forever.
Keeping her voice low she gathered Jack and Bert near the door of Sanctuary and outlined her plan - she needed to get to the medbay to restock her supplies, and they were her preferred escorts for the mission. She knew if she brought it up with Sam as a question the other woman would try to keep her from going, so best to approach it with a fully-formed plan already in place.
"We'll be as quick as possible, but if casualties continue at the same rate then there's no two ways around it - I'll be bandaging people up with bedsheets if we don't restock our supplies. So. Will you help out?"

"You will not tell us what you need and stay to tend your patients?" Jack asked.

"How would you feel about taking one of these?" he asks, frowning.

"No need. If you need a brush-up before we go, we can do that, or if you'd rather handle something more familiar..."

"Okay, I guess we'll take a few minutes to get ready, and I'll see you at the barricade." Ready or not, here we go...

It wasn't going to be like any cutting out expedition he'd ever been on, but he was ready as he was going to be.
"A few minutes then," he agreed.

Minutes later, Jack waited by the barricade rocking on his feet in anticipation, even smiling. He always felt good before a confrontation and this was no different. It wasn't long before they joined him.
"Ready?" he asked them before turning to Cuthbert. "Hop up the barricade and see that the coast is clear?"

The first few minutes are fraught. Once the light of the Sanctuary behind them is swallowed in greeny-hued darkness, it seems as if every noise they hear-- most of which are echoes from other floors-- causes them to stop and take tally of their position. Bert leads, with Lauren in the middle and Jack bringing up the back, and when they reach the turbolift without incident, it feels like a blessing.
Which, naturally, means their little adventure is backloaded with catastrophe.
